1. DESIGNATION
The Automated Self-propelled Artillery Battalion Fire Control System ASABFCS “Vulcan-C”  is a universal system, designed to control the fire of a self-propelled artillery battalion(SAB) including up to 4 batteries, each consisting up to 8 self-propelled artil-lery gun mounts (SAGM), of mechanized brigades.

2. COMPOSITION OF THE SYSTEM ASABFCS “Vulcan-C” consists of the following components:
a) Command-observation post of the battalion commander consisting of:
-fire control vehicle – 1 pc;
-portable reconnaissance post – up to 4 pcs.
b) Up to 4 independent batteries fire control systems consisting of:
-battery command-observation post – fire control vehicle – 1 pc;
-portable reconnaissance post – up to 4 pcs.
-battery fire control post – fire control vehicle – 1 pc;
-self-propelled artillery gun mounts(SAGM) – up to 8 pcs.
All fire control vehicles are of one and the same type and are interchange-able

3. ORGANIZATION OF CONTROL AND COMBAT USAGE
The control is organized on the basis of a tactical LAN network. The data transmission between the command-observation post and the fire control post is carried out by means of VHF transceivers with a digital channel at data trans-mission speed of 16 KB/sec. The handheld reconnaissance terminal, the onboard computers and the hand terminals for guns control use a transmitter-receiver for W-LAN network. The transmitter-receiver (W-LAN) covers a distance of up to 900 meters at data transmission speed of 1 MB/sec. The data transmission between the portable reconnaissance post and the command-observation post and between the fire control post and the SAGM is carried out through W-LAN network.

Picture 1 shows the schematic diagram of the organization of control.
